Jacqueline Banerjee is currently teaching English and American Literature at Kobe College, Japan. She has previously taught at universities in Canada, Ghana and England, and has held research fellowships at the University of Poona (India) and at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge. She has published widely on 19th and 20th century literature, and is the author of Through the Northern Gate: Childhood and Growing Up in British Fiction, 1719-1901 (1996).
